Course Description:

This 12-week certification course equips aspiring Health Storey coaches with the knowledge and practical skills to support health clients in achieving improved health baselines and healthy lifestyles. Through coaching methodologies, behavioral science, and health education, participants learn to facilitate lifestyle changes and empower their clients to live healthier lifestyles.

Week 2: Core Coaching Skills and Communication

  • Building rapport and setting a professional standard
  • Communication Skills for Coaching

Week 3: Coaching Models and Frameworks

  • Current Coaching model, standard goal setting methods
  • Structuring coaching sessions (45 minutes )effectively
  • Client-centered coaching principles

Week 4: Understanding Behavior Change

  • Psychology of motivation
  • Stages of change model (Sovereign Change Model by Dr. Horstkamp)
  • Strategies to overcome the “HundeSchweine”

Week 5: Health and Wellness Fundamentals

  • Basics of nutrition, NEAT activity, and sleep
  • Stress management
  • Health Lifestyle Perspectives

Week 6: Goal-Setting and Action Planning

  • Creating measurable, achievable goals
  • Developing action plans with accountability measures
  • Tracking progress and plan pivots

Week 7: Coaching Proactive Participation Techniques

  • Engaging client and creating active participation.
  • Using self-journaling reflections and summaries

Week 8: Coaching Clients Through Common Challenges

  • Addressing weight management, chronic conditions, and lifestyle habits
  • Supporting stress management and emotional resilience
  • Time management and work-life balance strategies

Week 9: Ethics and Professional Standards

  • Drafting a confidentiality agreement, Setting professional Boundaries
  • Scope of practice and referral guidelines – Health Storey Practice Niche
  • Maintaining professionalism and competence

Week 10: Coaching Practice and Role-Playing

  • Conducting coaching sessions – Practice Dialogues
  • Giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Refining coaching style and techniques

Week 11: Building Your Coaching Business

  • Marketing and branding basics for coaches
  • Establishing client relationships and retention
  • Setting fees and managing logistics

Week 12: Final Assessment and Certification

  • Practical coaching Workshop – Workshop w/ worksheet for clients.
  • Case Study of a Client “Frankenstein” with a Coaching Plan and Agreement.
  • Written exam covering course content -Open Book test
  • Feedback session and awarding of certification – Meeting with Health Storey

Assignments & Evaluation:

  • Weekly questions based on materials – client worksheet evaluation.
  • Practice coaching sessions submission in writing notes evaluation.
  • Case study analyses and action plans for a client
  • Final practical coaching demonstration in the form of a workshop presentation with worksheet.

Certification:
Successful completion of the course requirements, including practical and written assessments, will earn you a recognized Health Storey Coaching Certification.
